Diaconia University of Applied Sciences - Diak
LIBRARY
AND INFORMATION SERVICES
Welcome to
the Diak Library Website
The Diak library and information
services are open to all users at the unit libraries and through our
virtual library pages.
The Diak library collections include
approximately 150 000 books, DVDs, videotapes and journals, as well as
essential electronic information resources. The collection focuses on the
fields of diaconia, social services and health care, education,
theology, communications and sign language. Most Diak unit libraries
offer access to the collections, study facilities and guidance in
library use and on information retrieval.
Answer to a questionnaire about the library services and
contribute to the development of Diak library services!
Do
you wish to influence the development of library services? Is your library
important to you?
Answer the user questionnaire of your library on
the web in March and take part in the prize draw for books and USB
memories.
The national user survey is carried out at the same time
in public libraries, libraries at universities and in several special
libraries. For two years ago the survey was taken by over 21 000 library
users in the country.
The results of the survey will help your
library in evaluating and developing the library services. Tell your
library how you think they have succeeded in answering to your needs!
The
information collected by the questionnaire will be used for the evaluation
and improvement of information services of all polytechnics in Finland.
The questionnaire is open for all from 1.3. to 4.4.2010 To

Fines and fees policy
To promote the return
of material, our library charges fines for overdue books from August 2007.
Overdue fee is collected right after the expiry date and the fines
increase daily: normal collection: 0,20 €/item/day (maximum 5 €/item).
However overdue items from the reference library: 0,50 €/item/hour
(maximum 8 €/item). You will get a courtesy notice three days before the
due date of your loans. If your loans are overdue, you will get two
reminders. Reminders are sent by e-mail or by post. (Please remember to
inform us of any address changes.)
The library has a right to
suspend a patron’s borrowing privileges. Suspension happens automatically
if you have not returned or renewed an overdue book within 6 weeks OR if
your total fines are more than 8 €. The customer must replace
lost or damaged material.
