Library Rules

Once you register as a customer, you are committed to following the library rules. You are also responsible for all material borrowed on your library card.

Library user rights
The library is public and open to all users. In order to borrow material from the library, you will need our library card.

Library card
To get our library card you need to fill out a user application form and prove your identity with valid identification. According to the Personal Data Act, 1999/523 § 13, the library is entitled to request customers’ social security numbers. The information submitted in the application form is confidential and will not be used for any other purposes than the library’s own.

Overdue loans
Two reminders are sent out for overdue loans either by e-mail or by post to customers without an e-mail account. One reminder is sent by e-mail three days before loans fall due.

Renewing loans and reserving material
Loans may be renewed (10 times maximum) and charged material reserved at the library service desk, by phone, e-mail or via the website in the DIANA library catalogue (choose the "Help"-link to get instructions for the database use). Items reserved by another customer cannot be renewed. Customers will be notified by e-mail when requested items are available for pickup from the library.

Changes in customers’ contact information
Customers are obliged to notify the library about any changes in contact information etc.

Lost library card
Immediately notify the library about lost or stolen library cards. Until the library has been notified, you are responsible for all material possibly borrowed with the card. The library charges a fee for a new library card.

Suspended borrowing rights
If loans are not returned or renewed within six weeks of the due date or the overdue charges reach € 8, the customer’s borrowing rights are suspended. In order to regain borrowing rights, all overdue material must be returned and the accrued fees paid to the library. Lost or damaged material that is not replaced will also result in a suspension of borrowing rights.

Lost or damaged material
Customers are responsible for replacing any lost or damaged material issued to their library cards. Lost items must be replaced with either the identical item (book, journal or video) or a fee equal to the cost of the item. Replacement arrangements should be individually agreed on with library personnel. All invoices sent to the customer include a mandatory invoicing fee.

IntraDiak loans
Customers may borrow items from other library units belonging to the Diaconia University of Applied Sciences, provided that these are not part of their own unit's collections. These so called IntraDiak loans are free of charge for Diak students and staff. Note! IntraDiak loans should be reserved via the library service desk only – please do not reserve items from other library units via our website unless you are able to pick them up for yourself from the library in question .

Price list
The library’s current price list is available on the web site. Individual differences may occur between units; for more information, inquire at your own unit .
